stick it skewered goodies by Yee-Fan Sun | 1 2 3 4
continued from page 2

fruit skewers with honey-lime dip
You can use any assortment of fresh ripe fruit in season -- the ones below are just offered as an example. Do make sure to have an array of colors represented, though, for maximum pretty points. And bear in mind that some fruits stay put on a stick better than others (grapes, for instance, won't budge unless you force them to, whereas softer fruits like strawberries tend to slipslide around), making them a good choice for anchoring either end of a skewered stack.

ingredients
1 bunch grapes
1 punnet of strawberries
1 melon
4 kiwi

dip
lime juice from ½ lime
lime zest from one lime
2 Tbsp. honey
1 cup plain yogurt (the higher the fat content, the tastier)

makes about 3 dozen plus 1 cup dip

1 De-stem, peel and de-seed any fruit that isn't already in a ready-to-eat state. Cut all the fruit into small bite-sized chunks. Skewer anywhere from 3-5 bits of fruit per stick; you'll want more fruit for longer sticks, but bear in mind that too big of a skewer can be rather unwieldy to eat.
2 Combine all the dip ingredients in a mixing bowl, and stir well to combine. Transfer to a pretty serving bowl.
3 Arrange the skewers on a platter along with the dip. I like to pop a small spoon in the dip, as I find it's easier to spoon a little over the fruit rather than dipping the fruit directly -- ripe fruit has a tendency to slide off skewers.

don't stop skedaddling!
