space out | Sometimes the problem with a small kitchen isn’t the amount of space so much as poor organization. At times like these, it’s mighty helpful to have a carpenter in the house! Eve explains how they added some key functionality to their kitchen space: “The space under the window was wasted. We ended up taking an Ikea Expedit 2x4 bookcase and building a frame for it, then building up a level countertop to run all down that side. [After discovering that] the Ikea Arlig refrigerator cover panel was exactly the right side for a door for the Expedit, we cut that in half and put the hinges in place, creating a pair of doors.” >
