on renovating a rental pad
Erin was lucky to have a permissive landlord who planned to gut the building for his retirement a few years down the line. Still, it took her three weeks of working every night and all weekend just to repaint the tiny house. Why would anyone do that much work to a rental property? As Erin says, "I love painting and fixing up furniture. This project inspired me to start an antique business Fork & Tine with my Mom; we are both longtime collectors. [Fixing up the house] was part of my new start, very therapeutic, but mostly, I loved the view."
