Spread your sheets on a large flat surface, most likely the floor. Measure a length of L+5" and a width of W+2" on each sheet. Mark with a colored pencil, then cut carefully along the lines.

Take the finished (i.e.: non-fraying) end of one sheet, and fold over 2.25". Using the straight stitch on the sewing machine, stitch along the width of the fabric. Repeat this step with the second sheet.

Place one sheet on the floor, outside up. Place the second sheet directly on top, inside up. Make sure to line up the hemmed bottom edges (this is where your cover opening will be) carefully. Insert pins all along the perimeter to keep the two pieces of fabric together while you work.

Using a ruler, mark 3/4" in from the edge of the two long sides, and the unfinished short side. You’ll want to use a T-square or L-square to avoid ending up with a lopsided trapezoid rather than a rectangle.

more stuff this way!
