8 corkscrew
For opening wine bottles. The corkscrew on your |

Swiss
army knife will do in a pinch, but you can make the job a lot
easier by buying a proper corkscrew (the winged ones are super-simple
to use, albeit a little on the bulky side). |

You'll get by just fine without either
of these, but they do look kind of cool.
Ice crusher
Back in the 1950s, before freezers came with a built-in icemaker/ice
crusher unit, tabletop and wall-mounting ice crushers were very popular.
With retro being all the rage these days, some companies have started
making these manual ice crushers again … personally, though, I prefer
the vintage versions. Bartending aficionados will tell you
that ice should be cracked, not crushed, but the ice you'll get using
one of these is so roughly crushed that each chunk of ice is closer
to cracked, anyway.

Pour spout
Attach these to your liquor bottles and you’ll be able to pour your drinks
neatly and with flair.

Thanks to the revival of
the cocktail craze, most of these items can be found quite easily
for new, at a reasonable price. For ultra-cool cachet, though,
go vintage ... try to snag some super-cool fifties barware at estate
sales (as always, your best bet for true bargains), thrift
shops and the like, and you'll be able to mix drinks with ease, plus
look mighty hip in the process.
