From the beginning, the plan was to organize the closet space to make for a neat, organized storage/equipment area. We wouldn’t need a door or curtains because our closet space would be such a vision of space efficiency that we’d be able to show off our stored junk with pride. A year and a half later, we’re still working towards that goal. The right side of the closet came with a built-in nook full of shelves, which made it perfect for storing office supplies like paper, software manuals, extra pens and pencils, etc. The lowest shelf, which was just about at waist level, also provided a good spot to tuck away one of our printers. (Since my sweetie’s desk directly abuts the closet, it’s actually a very convenient location). Underneath the shelves, we added a small, two-tiered utility cart that allowed us to place a flatbed scanner and computer tower in the closet as well. The left side of the closet didn’t have any shelving at all to begin with. After sliding in two short file cabinets, stacking them up and plopping the fax machine on top, there was still a lot of space being wasted in the upper portion of the closet. To remedy that poor use of space, we installed a wall shelf in the closet. file under M for more don't stop: there's more this way!
