It's that time of the year again: when the leaves start falling, the temperatures as well, and the monsters get ready to come out and play on the spookiest night of the year. Pay homage to the creatures of the night, by serving up some of these cocktails at your Halloween fete…

banshee
1 part crème de banane
1 part white crème de cacao
2 parts cream or half-and-half
cocoa powder for garnish

Shake up all the ingredients with plenty of ice, and strain into a cocktail glass. Sprinkle with cocoa powder for garnish.

gremlin
2 parts whiskey
1 part Rose's lime juice

Shake it up in a cocktail shaker with plenty of ice; strain and pour into a cocktail glass.

werewolf
1 part Drambuie
1 part bourbon

Pour over ice in a short (old-fashioned) glass; stir and serve.

blue ghost
2 oz. citrus vodka
1 oz. blue curacao
tonic water
wedge of lime

Pour the vodka and blue curacao in a tall (Collins) glass full of ice (preferably crushed). Top with tonic water and gently stir. Garnish with wedge of lime.

black cat
1 part tequila
1 part amaretto

Serve over ice in a short (old-fashioned) glass, or as a shooter.

wicked witch
1.5 oz. whiskey
1 Tbsp. cherry liqueur
1 Tbsp. pineapple juice
1 tsp. Lemon juice

Toss all ingredients in a shaker with ice, and shake. Strain and serve in a cocktail glass. Garnish with a maraschino cherry.
