Cards: Get permanent markers, large envelopes (find or create
your own), use as really interesting invitations, Valentine's, birthday
cards. 9.
Sun catchers/mobile: For this one, you can choose to glue two CDs
back to back or leave the labels showing. You can drill holes or not
drill holes. You can hang them one at a time; you can made a multi-CD
mobile. Your call. One fun trick, though, is to scratch a pattern into
the label side with a nail — this pattern will appear on the shiny
side (and look much better than if you try scratching the tough
shiny-side plastic). Possible patterns include snowflakes, stars,
flowers, happy faces, whatever. 10.
Hardcore furniture décor: Glue
CDs to a cheap piece of furniture, covering as much as possible. To
cover and protect it evenly, use table top resin (sometimes found at
bigger hardware and craft stores...better bets are plastic specialty
shops or nautical supply stores). Table top/crafting resin is a thick,
sticky goo that hardens into a tough shiny plastic. It can be a bit of a
pain to work with (Thought your work surface was even? Guess again! And
you don't get a second try!) though the results can be amazing. Mixing
in glitter is a great effect, though CDs are so shiny already that they
don't really need it. Diana Goodman's latest projects involve a Chinese soup can label, a cannibalized prom dress, an electric sander attachment, a Hello Kitty purse and a box of sheet metal screws. check
